One of the common questions I get often from women is “do I need an audience to start my business?”. The answer is actually no and yes. Let me explain. The simple answer is no, you can start your business having an audience of ZERO. This is exactly how I started my business at 40 years old. No audience, no social media following, no email list, nothing.
You really don’t need a huge fan base or warm audience to start your coaching business or to make money. There are so many ways nowadays to get your business off the ground, to get in front of your target audience and to start selling. With social media here to stay and a diverse range of online advertising, you have so many tools literally at your fingertips to start strumming up some business now! You don’t even need a huge budget to at least get started.
™ is still the #1 advertising platform for businesses due to the targeting and cost effectiveness. You don’t have to be a big fan of Facebook personally, trust me. Maybe you’re not a fan of social media in general – you’re more private and BTS (behind the scenes) on how you live life. I get it! I was the same way in the beginning until I quickly realized that ALL of my revenue would come straight from social media and fast.
When it comes to your BUSINESS, you MUST get busy with social media. Meaning, learning how to use it to monetize and grow your customer base. Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest and TikTok can also be big money makers depending on your “niche” and where your audience hangs out online.
Having so many options
is also a problem for some business owners which creates overwhelm and heartburn as you might feel the need to be “everywhere” all the time. This is a lot to manage for a small business owner especially starting out. So many accounts, so much content, so many assets and CTA’s (call-to-actions) to come up with. And then, you have to track the numbers…CPC, CPL, CPA and ROI! Say what? What in the world does all of that mean…
Let’s keep it simple shall we? You need one platform – Facebook. Two at the most to start your business. Keeping things simplified and remaining hyper-focused during start-up is critical. You can start a Facebook business page and have it up and running in a matter of days. Then you can create a Facebook Ads Manager account to create ad campaigns, if your budget allows, to gain traction even faster. Now, the key here is to do it RIGHT. I highly recommend you hire and invest in a business coach to help you with these steps but the point is, you can do it and you can do it fairly quickly.
The beautiful thing about building an online business is that you have millions of people to reach at your finger tips. The key and pro tip here is to keep it very simple in the beginning while you work on generating revenue and making your clients happy! New client acquisition and current client fulfillment go hand-in-hand. You must learn to do both – very well – to build a long lasting sustainable business.
